demon eye and white tiger and the bed of roses. last saturday at reggies 42nd street. demon eye is from raleigh. first time seeing these guys. super tight, early to mid 70's feel jams. white tiger was fun as always. toupees, harmonicas, fun. revolving door of former members hopping on stage to sing with the band. nothing tougher looking than two dudes singing in the same mic. never had a bad time at 42nd street.

met up with friends friday before last to celebrate the birth, life and times of the beautiful dj ghosttracks. ate some good food and headed over to soapbox to catch the love language, gross ghost and toddlers show.it has been a pleasure to see these bands grow over the years. im always happy to see them come back to town. this visit was no exception. it has also been a pleasure to watch ghosttracks grow, literally and figuratively. happy birthday old man, im glad you were born.

reggies fest.

what can i say about reggies fest. i f*cking love this bar as much as a man can love a place. i will happily drive 20 mins into town just to slam some drinks, talk sh*t with the boys, shoot a game of pool, hear some sh*tty/good music, or get embarrassingly drunk and not be embarrassed about it. reggies fest was everything i love about this place rolled into a weekend. good bands, good people, good times, hot dogs on the grill. matt, chuck, and rich many thank you's for all the good times.

more shows and more shows. everybody has been playing a lot recently. weekends have been rocking. last weekend thunderlip, asg and a handful of other local bands played the brooklyn arts center. another shining example of the multitude of talent this small town has to offer. the show was well attended. drinks cheap. tunes loud and the venue is cool as hell. big old church with vaulted ceilings and stain glass windows. good times.

headed up to richmond, va last weekend to check out the gwar.b.que festival. some of my buds were playing in the show and the festival took place at a water park. sounded like good fun. was good fun. good music. good barbecue. and a lot of weird ass mother f*ckers. a spectacle.

for such a small town. wilmington is filled with talent. tons of good, local, national and international touring acts are lucky enough to call this little alcoholics haven home. among these is my personal favorite, thunderlip, who have been playing on again off again for several years now. last friday they were on again. as usual, a ton of fun. love these dudes. love this town.

shot up to raleigh weekend before last to catch a white fence, ty segall show at kings barcade. made a nice little get away of it. enjoyed the company of drew, sean, lisa, scotty all afternoon in raleigh before heading up to kings for what was easily the best show i've seen this year. we made our way up front and hugged the stage for the night. white fence was freaking phenomenal. wasn't as familiar with their stuff but have to say im a big fan now. they recently collaborated with ty segall on an album entitled hair, which was the focus of this tour. i was stoked to pick up a copy of the LP at the show. and just as bummed to realize i had left it in the cab after the show. the concert was rocking. everybody sounding great. some stage diving and crowd surfing, some cheap beer drinking and good socializing. 'i want to relive that moment' was the theme of the next day. it'd be safe to say a very good time was had by all. thanks for the tunes and rocking good times fellows.

thanks again to everybody who made it out to reggie's 42nd street last saturday for the rock and roll/show. i think it is fair to say a good time was had by all. hats off to virgin lung and white tiger and the bed of roses. this was my first time seeing virgin lung and from what i understand their second show. it will not be my last. excited to hear some young new talent in town. was super stoked to hear some of the new tunes white tiger has been working on. sounded good as hell. the art was good as hell. hats off to jeremy, emily, molly, sarah and zach. its an honor to hang my stuff on the wall next to you guys.

rang in the new years at the soapbox yet again. friends in the love language, gross ghost and last years men provided the tunes. the crowd was good. libations tasty. total success. i was well reminded of something eric of posterhound family workshop said on this same evening last year. "we are lucky to have such a talented group of friends". time and time again it proves to be true. whether it be music, art, athleticism, etc etc. i am glad to be present and bare witness. thanks for the entertainment guys.
