schedule seems to be at odds with what little surf there has been to experience lately. it'd be a big lie to deny wander lust. the idea of warm water and consistency sounds utopic. without definite prospect of travel on the near horizon, nostalgia is setting in.
in a very good place right now. vern and friends threw the best surprise birthday shin-dig at reggies 42nd street tavern. tons of out of town friends. tons of in town friends. good jams from dj ghostracks. and a 6 foot party sub from jersey mikes. love you people. im not worthy.
got everything i could ever wish for.
photos lifted from bernadette.
cool old dewey weber ski from the 70's. the weber ski is the board that nat young rode in morning of the earth. a hull bottomed board developed during the short board evolution. awesome piece of surf history. picked it up this summer. super good condition.
if you haven't yet, please check out friends griffindorf and hobbs over at the restless youth movement. sick collection of writing, art, photos and other random paraphernalia. mostly related but not limited to surf, skate, snow, and travel. compiled into low rent zines. awesome idea. awesome execution. snag a physical copy at surf city in wb or check 'em out on facebook at the link above. contact and contribute.
went down to the soapbox last night for the rock the light benefit. killer turn out. both floors were packed. hoping they raised a lot of money. tons of bands. all super loud and super fast. highlight was white tiger and the bed of roses. always a good show. quickly becoming one of my favorites. very good times. let's do it again.
went up to chapel hill last sunday 1.30.11. to catch some tunes from the smith westerns at the local 506. the boys (in the band) were young. extremely arrogant. looked like girls. a blatant marc bolan/t.rex rip off. that being said, it sounded f*cking great. killer guitar tones. sick hooks. and good fun w/ friends. worth the drive.
