went out last wednesday to check out blacks last show at the soapbox. attendance was poor. the performance was not. steve's an angry man, which usually seems to make for a good show. keith and drum machine were replaced by another bassist and live human drummer from durham. it was probably the best they've sounded, or at least that i've seen. a good time with a few friends and last chance to hear some angry, heavy tunes from blacks. be sure to check out there split ep with white tiger and the bed of roses. available at gravity records.
the boss man was nice enough to let me borrow one of his old channel islands twin fins from the 80's. didn't get to ride it in any decent surf but enjoyed looking at it in my living room. thanks barden.
our good friends at gravity records are kind enough to host free in store shows from time to time. show casing emerging local and national acts. awesome way to expand your music library at no cost. back in june they hosted two bands from sc. coma cinema and modern man. my favorite show of the series thus far. i filed the pictures in the wrong folder before i ever got to post them. just came across them and decided it was still worth sharing. two good bands. several good tunes. thank you gravity.
been stoked on these videos from the waxhead diaries. australian dudes killing it on quasi traditional longboards. check out their videos on vimeo. super sick. number 7 in particular, makes me itch to surf.
